What if I don't have time for this?
Not all cost-saving opportunities require a lot of time to implement! This peer review offer is risk-free, so you don’t have to hesitate. If you can’t implement the proposed changes, you don’t pay a dime. The only mistake is not taking advantage of this offer.
What if my current Engineer of Record rejects the proposed change?
Rest assured; we only propose design changes we ourselves would implement as an EOR. Unfortunately, there will be occasional disagreements preventing you from implementing a cost-saving strategy. In this case, you don’t pay us for the value of the change since you won’t be able to benefit from it.
If you find savings, does it mean the current design team did something wrong?
Absolutely not. Measuring construction costs is not something engineers are trained in, nor is it a part of the Standard of Care in the industry. There are more ways than one to design a building.
At H+O, we developed cost estimating training and processes allowing us to accumulate years of data and insights. The combined focus of structural engineering AND cost estimating give us a unique ability to identify cost-saving opportunities.

What if H+O identifies $800k of savings, but we only capture $400k?
The good news is you saved $400k. We’re aligned with your success, so you’ll only compensate us on the $400k savings captured.
How do we establish structure pricing?
We have two options.
The clearest agreement is engaging H+O to peer review GMP design drawings. The initial GMP pricing breakdown from your general contractor will create the unit pricing benchmarks. We’ll conduct our review, measure the reduction in structure and other associated adjustments with pricing validation coming from your GC.
The risk with waiting until GMP is it may be too late to make some changes, leaving some opportunity cost on the table. For select high-integrity partners, we’re willing to engage as early as DD to help optimize structural design. In this type of engagement, we’ll need to agree upon structure quantities and unit pricing benchmarks to measure success prior to conducting the peer review.
