Landmark Properties and W5 Group are developing The Standard at Syracuse at 910 Madison Street in Syracuse, supported by a project team including CUBE 3, Landmark Construction, and H+O. The project delivers a seven-story, 210-unit student housing community with 603 beds near Syracuse University.

Student Housing Near Campus
The Standard at Syracuse rises within the University Hill district and places residents within walking distance of academic buildings, the JMA Wireless Dome, and downtown Syracuse. Homes range from studios through five-bedroom layouts with bed to bath parity.
The development targets an opening for the 2026 academic year.

A Site with Historic Context
The project sits on a roughly two-acre parcel along Madison Street and University Avenue. The site includes the former Temple Concord sanctuary, a historic structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which Landmark and W5 plan to preserve within the development.
The surrounding district includes academic, institutional, and residential uses, supporting a walk-focused student housing program.

A Podium Structure for Efficient Density
CUBE 3 organizes the building’s 603 beds within a seven-story massing, framing the preserved sanctuary and transitions toward nearby residential blocks. The design follows the site geometry and maintains consistent street edges along University Avenue and Madison Street.
H+O’s structural design uses a podium system with parking and amenity spaces below residential floors framed in Type IIIA wood construction. This approach reflects common student housing podium models where integrated parking and wood-framed residential levels support both density and cost alignment.

Construction Progress and Delivery
Construction began in 2024 and is actively progressing across the site, with wood framing rising on the residential levels. Vertical work continues while interior buildout, exterior systems, and site improvements advance in sequence, targeting delivery for the 2026 academic year.

A Model for Future Student Housing
The Standard at Syracuse illustrates how a 603-bed program, historic preservation, and a podium structure can be combined on a compact urban site.
H+O partners with colleges and design teams early to align structure with performance, cost, and long-term campus objectives. Our process brings clarity to decisions, shaping budget and delivery.
